MCAC hosts art week in Medina County July 14-21

Celebrating the Vibrant Arts Scene in Medina County

Medina County, Ohio, is set to host its 41st annual Arts Week, a celebration of the diverse and talented artistic community within the region. From July 14th to 21st, the county will come alive with a variety of events, performances, and interactive experiences that showcase the transformative power of art.

Unlocking the Creative Potential of Medina County

Showcasing the Artistic Tapestry of Medina County

The Medina County Arts Council has been the driving force behind the annual Arts Week celebration for over four decades. This year's festivities promise to be a captivating display of the county's artistic prowess, with a wide range of performances, interactive exhibits, and community-driven projects. The Celebration of the Arts event on July 18th, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Medina's historic square, will be the centerpiece of the week-long celebration.

Empowering the Next Generation of Artists

The Arts Week festivities will feature a diverse array of local performing arts groups, including students from Medina Centre for Dance Art, Once Upon a Dream Dance & Cheer, KS Vocal Studios, Northeast Ohio Dance, Medina County Show Biz, and Dance D'Elegance Ballroom Dancing. These young talents will take the stage at the gazebo, showcasing their skills and inspiring the community. Additionally, the event will highlight the artistic achievements of students from Brunswick Elementary Schools and Medina City Schools, providing a platform for their creativity to shine.

Fostering Community Engagement and Creativity

The Celebration of the Arts event will also feature an interactive community mural project, "Medina County Sticks Together," where participants can contribute their artistic touch by adding colorful popsicle sticks to the collaborative canvas. This hands-on activity encourages community engagement and celebrates the collective creativity of Medina County residents.

Exploring the Diverse Offerings of Medina County's Arts Organizations

Throughout the event, various arts organizations will set up booths on the square, offering visitors the opportunity to engage in make-it-take-it craft projects. These organizations, including Integrated Community Solutions, Access the Arts, The Wadsworth Footlighters, and Medina County District Library, will showcase the breadth of artistic opportunities available in the region.

Fostering Artistic Expression and Accessibility

The Medina County District Library will also introduce its new Book Bike, highlighting the diverse resources and learning opportunities available through their Makerspace. Visitors can explore how to create pin-back promotional buttons, use a Cricut, embroidery machine, laser engraver, heat press, serger, 3D printer, and sublimation printer, further expanding the artistic horizons of the community.

Nourishing the Body and the Soul

To complement the artistic offerings, the Celebration of the Arts event will feature a selection of food trucks, including Da Dawg House and The Ice Bucket, providing a variety of delectable treats. The food truck owners will also be collecting new and used instruments and art supplies to restore and pass on to those in need, fostering a spirit of community support and artistic accessibility.

Embracing the Artistic Diversity of Medina County

Beyond the Celebration of the Arts event, the Arts Week festivities will feature a wide range of programs and activities taking place at various locations throughout the county, including craft projects and performances at county libraries, parks, senior centers, and local businesses. This comprehensive schedule ensures that the artistic celebration reaches every corner of Medina County, inviting all residents to engage, explore, and be inspired by the transformative power of art.
