Empowering Community Outreach: NOTL Museum's Tiny Museum Receives Transformative Grant

The Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) Museum has announced an exciting partnership with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) that will significantly bolster its Tiny Museum community outreach programs. Through the OPG's Power for Change Project, the NOTL Museum has been awarded a ,000 Regional Empowerment Grant, enabling the museum to expand its reach and bring its rich history and educational initiatives to the heart of the community.

Unlocking the Power of Community Engagement

Bringing History to Life with the Tiny Museum

The NOTL Tiny Museum is a pint-sized version of the museum itself, designed to curate portable exhibits from the museum's extensive collection. This innovative approach allows the museum to take its treasures and educational programs directly to the community, engaging residents and visitors alike. The Tiny Museum features enclosed but easily viewable display cases and drawers, as well as a dedicated children's activity tent area, making it an interactive and captivating experience for all ages.

Empowering Community Outreach

The OPG Regional Empowerment Grant will enable the NOTL Museum to expand the reach of its Tiny Museum, allowing it to participate in a wider range of community events throughout the Niagara region. From the Pumphouse Arts Weekend to the NOTL Peach Celebration and the museum's own Past is Present Festival, the Tiny Museum will bring the museum's rich history and educational initiatives directly to the people, fostering a deeper connection between the community and its cultural heritage.

Strengthening Community Ties

"We have many wonderful community events during the summer months," said NOTL Museum Managing Director, Sarah Kaufman. "This funding helps the Tiny Museum to be a part of them, and to truly take our museum, and history, 'out of the box'." By bringing the museum's exhibits and artifacts directly to the community, the Tiny Museum serves as a unique calling card, attracting families and visitors and sparking their curiosity about the NOTL Museum's offerings.

Aligning with OPG's Vision

The OPG Power for Change Project was designed to give back to Ontario and to the communities where OPG operates, with a focus on four key pillars: protecting the planet, advancing reconciliation, supporting strong communities, and empowering the next generation. The NOTL Museum's Tiny Museum initiative aligns perfectly with OPG's vision, as it empowers the community, engages the next generation, and fosters a deeper appreciation for the region's rich history and cultural heritage.

Celebrating the Power of Community

"We believe there is power in community," said Nicole Fabbro, OPG Vice President, Niagara Operations. "We hope this project will empower not-for-profit organizations to do what they do best – make a difference." The NOTL Museum's Tiny Museum is a testament to the power of community engagement, and the OPG's support through the Regional Empowerment Grant will enable the museum to amplify its impact and inspire even more people to connect with the region's history and cultural identity.
